Glen check is named after the Scottish valley "Glenurquhart". The original pattern was woven for Edward II, Prince of Wales, at the beginning of the 14th century; for this reason, the pattern is often referred to as "Prince of Wales" check. As a rule, this is a pure new wool fabric with a woven twill design that uniquely combines checks of various sizes with stripes.
