Welcome to Berchtesgaden!
Once a popular holiday destination for Bavarian kings, Berchtesgaden still exudes royal flair to this day, thanks to its location on the majestic summit of the Watzmann. The Luis Trenker Shop has been located in the historic centre of the idyllic market town, at Marktplatz 3, since summer 2023 - in the legendary "Hirschenhaus", a charming building dating back to 1594.

Saline southern Bavaria
The rich salt mines ensured Berchtesgaden's early economic independence and prosperity. The precious crystals, which are often referred to as "white gold", are still mined today and exude a very special charm. In the Berchtesgaden salt mine, visitors can take a train into the interior of the salt mountain, where a miner's slide, a ride across an underground salt lake and other highlights await them. After the underground excursion, you can then take the short hike along the Salt Experience Trail to learn more about the 500-year-old mine.

Insider tip for connoisseurs
Berchtesgaden is nestled in a national park of around 200 square kilometres with diverse flora and fauna, as well as 260 kilometres of well-developed hiking trails and alpine paths. A paradise for nature lovers! There is also plenty to discover in the valley: a royal castle, charming town houses, small shops and cosy cafés are just some of the highlights that the historic market offers. Our favourite place for coffee and cake or a glass of wine is Café Guttmann in the former shop of Berchtesgaden goldsmith Severin Guttmann, not far from our shop. We especially love the romantic inner courtyard!
