How to care for linen

By following these care instructions, you can extend the life of your linen garments and ensure that they stay beautiful for a long time.

Hand wash or gentle wash cycle:
Ideally, linen clothing should be washed by hand to protect the fibres. If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle wash cycle and cold water.

Use mild detergents:
Choose mild, pH-neutral detergents. This is the best way to care for the natural linen fibres and wear your linen for a long time.

Air dry:
Hang your linen clothes on a washing line to dry and avoid the tumble dryer. Excessive heat can shrink linen and damage the fibres. Shape your garments into their original shape while they are still damp.

Iron when wet:
Linen should be slightly damp when ironing to smooth out creases. Use a low to medium heat and iron on the reverse side of the fabric to avoid shine or burning.

Avoid soaking:
Do not leave linen garments soaking in water for too long, as this can lead to discolouration or weakening of the fibres. Wash them as soon as possible after wearing and remove stains immediately to facilitate thorough cleaning.

The benefits of linen

Linen is a natural material that is spun from the fibres of the flax plant. The fibres are thicker than cotton, which gives linen its characteristic texture. Due to its airy feel and lightweight, breathable fabric, linen dries quickly and is comfortable to wear, making it ideal for travelling or the summer months.
